Come and discover Advances in Electron Microcopy for the Biological Sciences

Electron microscopy can complement optical microscopy with high resolution imaging and analysis.

Daily Presentations and Discussions: 12:00 - 1pm.

TEM:
  • Image unstained specimens with ease and rapidly acquire elemental maps by utilizing the Zeiss-developed Omega energy filter.
  • Complete spectroscopy (EDS & EELS), elemental mapping, tomography, imaging and cryo capabilities at your fingertips in one easy-to-use package: the Zeiss LIBRA 120 Plus.
FESEM/ FIB-SEM:
  • Differentiate biological markers in ultra high resolution with Zeiss' advanced in-lens Energy selective Backscattered (EsB) electron detector.
  • 3-D Reconstruction of biological tissue in the nanometer scale using mechanical serial section array tomography or using the Zeiss automated FIB-SEM Serial Mill-Image workstation.
"Zeiss Field Emission SEMs now offer TEM-like contrast from a new ultra high resolution Energy selective Backscattered (EsB) electron detector. This image quality is indispensable for 3-D reconstruction of thin serial sections. Combine this imaging with automated FIB milling in the Zeiss NVision or NEON FIB-SEM and you'll permanently capture extraordinary cross-sectional details and easily convert these images to 3-D models of your biological tissues. Next, align these ultra high resolution models to your confocal fluorescent images for state-of-the-art structure/function analysis, all through Zeiss' leading edge technologies"

Furthermore you’ll also see the bioscience microscopes of Carl Zeiss MicroImaging. For a preview of these instruments visit
