Material Analysis Image Gallery
Here you'll see some examples of micrographs produced on the ORION® PLUS helium ion microscope. Please let us know if you have any questions about these images.

Material Analysis Gold Carbon: The surface sensitivity of helium ion images allow the imaging of nano-scale surface structure at high resolution, such as in these gold particles. The grains within the individual particles are evident as well.
JPG: 384 x 384
Material Analysis MgO transmission: The long range of helium ions in solids allows for transmission mode imaging that can give details on grain orientation and material density. Note the varying levels of image contrast in these cubic magnesia crystals.
JPG: 384 x 355
Material Analysis W_RBI: Imaging with backscattered helium ions allows for novel contrast mechanisms. In this image, one can easily distinguish the stress-induced grains in this single crystal metal sample.
