| OBERKOCHEN/Germany, 09.06.2008. Tomorrow, Carl Zeiss SMT is holding its second Suppliers’ Day in Oberkochen. With the motto "Win/win through networks in a volatile environment", this year Carl Zeiss SMT has invited its ten supply chain partners and candidate partners. For the Head of Supply Chain Management, Peter Schlindwein, the event is something very special: “The Suppliers' Day is an expression of our appreciation towards our suppliers. We want to use this day as an opportunity to develop visions and put them into practice together.” The day’s motto is intended to raise awareness and, at the same time, to be motivational: “The environment in which the semiconductor market, a significant driver for our business, finds itself is very cyclical, intensely competitive and can change within extremely short spaces of time. The aim of today’s event is to flag up consequences for the supply chain in good time and to develop measures together that will help all parties position themselves optimally in this market", Schlindwein adds. The Suppliers’ Day is organized in the context of the Carl Zeiss supplier management system. The aim of this system is to strengthen the company’s supply chain further and, as a result, also to increase customer confidence. Besides market analyses and their consequences for the supply chain of individual divisions, the program also includes presentations by two suppliers and workshops. The highlight of the event will be the presentation of the 2007 Supplier Award. With this award, which is being presented for the second time, the company will be honoring a supplier for its outstanding delivery and product performance.
