| OBERKOCHEN/Germany, 10.06.2008. As part of today’s Suppliers’ Day, Carl Zeiss SMT has honored the Zurich-based company Oerlikon Space with the 2007 Supplier Award for outstanding delivery and product performance. The Zurich company came out on top in the assessment of all Carl Zeiss SMT suppliers. The companies were appraised on the basis of a list of criteria including the four main categories of quality, technology, logistics and price, as well as other sub-criteria. Oerlikon Space supplies Carl Zeiss with highly specific shutter components for lithography optics, in the context of which the company also draws on its specific expertise from the area of space technology. “We are pleased and proud that Carl Zeiss SMT is honoring Oerlikon Space with the 2007 Supplier Award. This is the result of our outstanding cooperation over the last few years”, says Ueli Wieland, Head of Development at Oerlikon Space, delighted by the supplier award received. He goes on: “As a space company we are particularly pleased to have received an award for a non-space product. The components that we supply to Carl Zeiss are a successful example of the transfer of technology from space to industrial applications on the ground.” Just a few weeks ago, Zurich-based company Oerlikon Space became one of Carl Zeiss SMT's supply chain partners. The Supplier Award is presented by Carl Zeiss once a year, within the framework of the Suppliers’ Day, to honor excellent suppliers for their outstanding delivery and product performance.
