Lithography expert Winfried Kaiser, Vice President, Product Strategy in the Lithography Optics Division, has been nominated as Fellow, making him the first employee in the Carl Zeiss Group worldwide to reach the highest level of the technical ladder. The members of the Executive Board of Carl Zeiss AG, Dr. Dieter Kurz (President & CEO), Dr. Michael Kaschke and Dr. Hermann Gerlinger, who is also the President and CEO of Carl Zeiss SMT, presented the pioneer of lithography optics with the nomination certificate on the evening of November 6.

On November 6, Carl Zeiss SMT celebrated the opening of the Carl Zeiss Innovation Center Dresden and the start of the joint Nanoanalysis project with more than 90 guests from the world of politics, industry and the media and with representatives from the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) and from chip manufacturers AMD and Qimonda.

On September 7 the German Secretary for Education and Research inaugurated the Hans Mahl Nanosolutions Center in the new building of Carl Zeiss SMT in Oberkochen. The new demonstration lab for electron and ion beam systems offers customers and anyone interested the possibility of examining their specimens with the latest systems of the Nano Technology Systems division. Around 6 million euros have been invested in the center. Find more details in the press release.

Fanfare of Innovations at the M&M in Fort Lauderdale:
Official Launch of Helium Ion Microscopy. Three further products underscore the Nano Technology Systems division's claim to technology leadership in the market for electron and ion microscope systems.
Numerous new products are the focus of attention of Carl Zeiss SMT at the Semicon West 2007. The motto of the successful show was "When precision counts".

The invitation to the inauguration of the unique CRISP transmission electron microscope at the ceasar Research Center in Bonn was met with great enthusiasm.
The highlight of the event was the symbolic presentation of the key in the form of a specimen holder to Member of the Board at caesar, Dr. Hartwig Bechte.

The Supply Chain Management invited 40 strategic suppliers – more than 160 guests – to the 1st Supplier's Day at Carl Zeiss SMT on March 27, 2007.
