Carl Zeiss demonstrated powerdomeŽVELVET in Jena's "Long Night of the Sciences"
The first complete fulldome system incorporating batch-produced VELVET projectors was demonstrated by Carl Zeiss during Jena's "Long Night of the Sciences" on November 13, 2009. More than thousand visitors were delighted by the sharpness and brilliance of the imagery projected onto the dome.

"Domies" for German DomeFest submissions
DomeFest 2009, which ran from September 25th to 27th, presented 14 productions selected by a US-American jury of experts. The six finalists from Germany selected by the jury comprised both student and professional productions. Two of the three coveted "Domies" for German submissions were won by students. A total of three shows first presented at the Jena FullDome Festival made it to the final stage at the DomeFest 2009!

powerdomeŽVELVET Presented at Conference of German-Speaking Planetariums
The conference of the Arbeitsgemeinschaft Deutschsprachiger Planetarien (ADP) hosted by the Mannheim Planetarium on May 17th/18th, 2009, saw the European debut of "True Black Projection Technology", a new, revolutionary projection system created by Carl Zeiss. About 110 planetarium specialists were convinced by the perfectly black background and impressed by the colors and brightness of the fulldome contents shown on the 20m dome.

February 2009
Planetarium Division to Become Part of Carl Zeiss AG
From March 1st, 2009, the Carl Zeiss Planetarium Division will be a direct operation of Carl Zeiss AG in Oberkochen. The division will remain on its Jena site nevertheless. All its contacts will remain available at the same phone numbers, mail and E-Mail addresses, although with the new firm name.
