Along with its digital fulldome display systems, Carl Zeiss offers powerdomeŽ, a PC cluster for fulldome image and sound generation and to combine opto-mechanical with digital planetarium projections. It is specialized for multi-channel projection solutions. A master computer with integrated 5.1 surround sound application directs the graphics cluster comprising high-performance graphics cards. All components are accommodated in a pleasingly styled rack.

Powerdome is a convenient tool, which makes creating, editing and running fulldome shows easy. Just load pictures, videos, sound, etc. Position and adapt them, where you want them to be or how to appear. All this without entering a single code or scripts. The image generator comprises a Configurator to set and modify relevant parameters for geometry, color calibration, edge-blending, etc, a ShowManager with integrated time line to compile your shows and a Player for rendering image and sound data. Image distribution over the channels, distortion corrections and edge blending calculation are done in real time without prior slicing.
By coupling a ZEISS planetarium projector with powerdome, the digital projection consistently follows the astronomical parameters of the planetarium control computer. The digital planetarium functions of powerdome expand the presentation capabilities of the optical-mechanical projector. Both systems work in unison.

UNIVIEW is a visualization and simulation software aimed at presenting and teaching astronomy, astrophysics and earth sciences. The application from the Swedish company SCISS can be integrated with powerdome and provides a seamless visualization of the entire known universe. UNIVIEW comes with the worlds most comprehensive thee dimensional astronomical database, DigitalUniverse, developed by the Amarican Museum of Natural History.
