The planetarium of Beijing, China, is of central importance on a nationwide scale. Its team not only manages planetarium shows but also takes part in observation and research programs and regularly issues astronomical and didactical publications. The recently opened new building, a large glass palace right next to the old planetarium building, houses the most advanced equipment for astronomical visualization. In the domed auditorium, image computers made by Silicon Graphics and the ZEISS laser projection system turn scientific education into unforgettable experiences.
In 2008 a UNIVERSARIUM Mark IX replaced the instrument in the "old" planetarium.

* A few years after the inauguration of the planetarium, the original Carl Zeiss projector was replaced with a projector made in China.
