All sky slide projection covers the entire dome surface. The most frequently used solution comprises a set of six slide projectors with wide-angle lenses. Spaced at angular intervals of 60°, each projector projects a partial image in the shape of half a segment of orange peel. The slides are specially masked so that edges blend and are invisible. Pictures may be photographs or artwork. |
For tilted domes/auditoriums, it is possible to use a technique of all-dome image projection using large-size slides. The special projector has a high light intensity and is located right next to the planetarium projector. |
